Medical Foot Care in a Nutshell
Everything You Need to Know

What is Medical Foot Care?
Medical Foot Care is a regulated profession performed by a Licensed Nurse with specialized training.
It is a discipline that focuses on the overall health and well being of the feet and nails as a whole.
Medical Foot Care focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and assessment of circulation, sensation, skin integrity, diabetic complications, and swelling of the lower limbs.
Medical Foot Care is not a “Pedicure”. We are not going to soak or make your feet “Pretty”, but we sure are going to make them “Healthy”.
Medical Foot Care can be claimed on your income tax as a medical expense with a receipt, including the nurse’s registration number.

Treatable Conditions
Foot Care has a wide range of practical applications and benefits:

Ingrown toenails: A non-surgical approach to ingrown toenails. This will ease the pain from the nail bed, and decrease the risk of infection by retraining the nail to grow properly, as well as shave down the ingrown nail.
Fungal infection: Using the patented ToeFX treatment system, we treat the fungal infection using light therapy and topical ointments. This is a painless and non-toxic solution to fungal infections.
Diabetic Complications: One of the side effects of diabetes is decreased sensation, especially in the feet. This can lead to skin breakdown, ulcers, wounds and infections. This can all be treated by a foot care nurse and is a very important part of proper diabetic care.
Calluses: These are thick layers of skin formed due to friction or pressure, commonly due to ill-fitting shoes. We safely remove these using specialized tools. We also look at why they are forming to prevent them from coming back. This includes looking into your gait and foot wear.
Corns: This often causes pain, redness, swelling and dry cracked skin. We treat them by using specialized tools to scrape or cut the dead tissue away.
Thick toenails: Using state of the art equipment we reduce the size and thickness of the nail.
